Hi! I'm Andrea. I've been reading Sew Retro for a while, and now I'm ready to join. I dabbled in sewing a little earlier in life, but only really got going in earnest about a year and a half ago. I've found that the plethora of helpful sources on the Internet make a big difference for me. I'm sewing all kinds of things I never thought possible, including vintage! I actually collected vintage patterns years before I ever thought I'd be skilled enough to use them. Of course it only took completing my first vintage dress to throw my collecting habit into high gear. If you're interested, I keep an online archive of my patterns
here on Flickr. I also have a blog at
http://invisibleflower.blogspot.com/. I'd love some visitors, as I'm new to blogging and it's pretty lonely over there. In a recent entry, I'm offering up an extra copy of the pattern for one of the dresses I made last year, Advance 3025. Just leave me a comment with your email address on that post if you're interested.
Here are the vintage projects I've completed so far. As you can see, I'm not faithful to any particular era. Oh, and in case it isn't obvious, I like sewing far more than I like being photographed. :/
1940s patterns: American Weekly 3869 (twice), Anne Adams 4872
Advance 7850 (1956), and Advance 3025 (1963)
Vogue 7807 (1970), and finally my very first vintage project, McCalls 5484 (1977)
I'm hoping to make a few more vintage things this summer. Right now I'm thinking another full-skirted 50s number, but I won't choose until it's time to start the next project. Thanks for reading, and keep the great posts coming!
