Late 80s-early90s butterick 4404

I thought I'd share.  It's not that vintage or retro since it's only 21 years old, but it's certainly cute!  It took me a long time to locate a long sleeved pinafore dress that didn't have ridiculously puffy sleeves.  I fancyied it up a bit, but the bones of the pattern are there:

I spent four days embroidering the skirt (it goes all the way around) and the waistband(ditto) and added lace to the bottom and the shoulder straps.  I also double needle pintucked the bodice of the dress, put on a purchased lace collar instead of a bastiste lace-edged one, and added lace to the sleeve side of the cuffs.
