Good evening ladies and gents!
This is my second attempt at the Simplicity 3688 skirt. It's a 1940s design and makes a 6 gore skirt.
The fabric I used for this one was a heavy wool-poly mix. I did the top stitching in white and used a white button to give a bit of interest to the skirt. The only change I made was to use an invisible zip instead of a lapped zip as is called for in the pattern.
I think that the fabric I used was a bit too heavy for this pattern, as where I've top stitched down each seam, there's a stiff line, which pulls the skirt out a bit. The same is true of the hem but I'm not worried about that so much since it helps to hold the skirt out a bit and emphasises the shape nicely.
In all, I think that I spent around 6-7 hours on this, which I'm happy with. I'd recommend this pattern as a great wardrobe basic and it's definitely suitable for beginners.
