Book Signing for "Chicago's Fashion History" in Elgin, IL on Saturday 2/26

If you're anywhere near Elgin, Ill. on Friday and Saturday (2/25 and 2/26), be sure to drop by the Chicagoland Vintage Clothing, Jewelry, Textile Show and Sale.  Not only is chockful of patterns, fabrics, notions and trims, it's a great opportunity to pick up ideas and make friends with dealers. The best way to shop is armed with the camera on your smartphone. Take pictures as much as possible because you know there's going to be something you want to buy but you didn't. You can turn back to your photos later to find out how to find the elusive dress, skirt or shoes of your dreams. What else is going on? Well, I'm signing my book Chicago's Fashion History (1865-1945) and I'll be presenting a slideshow on Chicago's knitting history at 1 p.m. on Saturday. I'll be bringing some examples of vintage yarns, patterns and ads. While I'm here, I want to plug my iPhone app, Yarn U, and my new blog, www.MaryBethMakesHats.blogspot.com.  I look forward to seeing at least some of you on Saturday.
