The skirt pattern is one I drafted myself and the skirt is made from a wool mix vintage fabric (from my stash bought over from New Zealand) and is lined with a red cotton gingham from Spotlight (sort of like Joanne's in the US from what I can gather).

I ended up going for a new machine for one reason: I was getting very impatient waiting to find a good one at a good price second hand. I went with Janome and it's such a beautiful machine. David told me the other night that 'it sounds like it really wants to sew' which is a good thing for a sewing machine I think! Thank you for all of your help and suggestions.
Next up, a 40's blouse and skirt ensemble.
