1920's summer dress
I've never really liked 20's fashions very much in the past, but when a group of my friends decided to do a prohibition-era group for Costume College last weekend, I couldn't resist joining in! After a few other failed attempts, I ended up making a dress from this early 20's Butterick pattern. I decided to omit the tunic on the blouse, but other than that I made up the pattern with no alterations. I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough the instructions were compared to 1910's patterns, but they were still really vague on things like closures, which was the one part that I had trouble with. I finally figured out something on my own, but I would still like to know how it was supposed to be done.
I really enjoyed making and wearing this dress. I never thought I'd like wearing something that was this loose and shapeless, but it was extremely comfortable and a lot of fun to wear. You can read a little more about this outfit on my blog, Festive Attyre.
