Betty Blue's 50s Venture

Hi, I'm Sophie and I've just moved down from Reading to Brighton and want to embrace the vintage vibe here by making 50s inspired clothing. I started by making fascinators and managed to get them selling in a local shop.I then moved onto my passion and started making 50s clothes, starting with a simple shift dress and quickly moving onto a shirt dress, a blouse, a pencil skirt and a gathered sweetheart style dress.

I am inspired by my surroundings but also Vintage Vogue patterns, programmes like Mad Men, 50s designers and Vogue Magazine. I make all my garments from my block patterns instead of commercial patterns. My aim is to build a collection of interesting and unusual garments for a portfolio, so any information, advice and reference materials that you guys come across it would be muchly appreciated!
