Vintage Cape and Apron Sewing- The Cape-ron?

Hey All!
Here are a few projects I have been up to for the last couple of weeks. I have just been working on a bunch of stuff all at the same time, because I like to mess with my sanity like that. Anyway, I finished up a cape and an apron, and I plan on wearing them both, but probably not together. Who knows, though? I could end up grilling in a rainstorm. I won't say never. Hmmmm- did I just invent the Cape-ron? If you would like to see a few more pics and read the ramblings of a woman who just gets nuttier with each swoosh of her super practical formal spring cape, stop by Farmhouse Garden.

Simplicity 5669: Tartan Plaid Cape

Hi Everyone! I recently finished a wool plaid cape, made from a vintage 1964 Simplicity pattern. It's lined with flannel-backed polyester lining, with gold-tone metal buttons down the front.Things I loved about this project? It's easy to sew a cape, since there aren't very many seams and it doesn't require a lot of fitting! Wearing a cape is so comfortable, like throwing on a blanket.

Because it was easy to sew, I spent more time cutting and matching the plaid, and pad-stitching the cape collar. I'm really happy with how this project turned out!

Simplicity 3122- The Cape!!

Here is my pattern, a cape from 1949.
Here is my awesome cape that I am IN LOVE with! It took me forever to finish, but I am very pleased with the result.
Lots more pictures on my blog from my gloomy cemetery photo shoot, as well as my years of struggling progress to finish this. It did force me to learn welt pockets, and improve my sewing skills, so I'm happy. Plus, no one will ever have the same cape as me!

A Summer Cape?

When I completed my dress from the vintage butterick B5032 pattern below, I looked at the pattern cover and wondered when I would ever make the cape on the green dress. After all, the weather in Singapore is so predictable. Warm all the time with occasional showers.
Which is why I totally surprised myself when I opened its sealed envelope a week later and made a cape! I adapted the pattern off course and the cape has a totally different function. Meet Cape Tara, my third summer blouse this week. More photos and details on how I adapted the pattern on my blog.
Have a Blessed Weekend!
