Sharing my bounty

with a giveaway!

I had some cute sewing themed notepads printed up and I wanted to share my bounty with my followers. I don't have many, but if you want a chance at a totally cute notepad, head over to my blog. Happy Cat will be glad to share!

Dress giveaway: Marian Martin 9359 (1940's): Winner!

The winner is Julie C!

Thanks to everybody who entered. I'm glad to see this dress move on to a better place. I'm also in the process of culling my pattern collection to hopefully I'll have some patterns to give away in the future.

Dress giveaway: Marian Martin 9359 (1940's)

This kind of breaks my heart, but I know she'll go to a better place, so it's for the best.

Behold: Marian Martin 9359 (no date, late 1940's):

(Click on the image for a larger, though still slightly out-of-focus, version.)

She was one of my first serious sewing attempts, and I love her dearly. Alas, she no longer fits.

In the interest of full disclosure, this is a secondhand dress, but she has no damage and has not been washed to death. All sewing is by machine and all her seams are finished (flat-felled). She is made of good-quality Moda quilting cotton in a mottled rust color with small black and white stylized floral print, and black rick-rack trim. She has a zipper closure in her left side. She does not have shoulder pads, although they can be added by the winner (I have square shoulders, and her shoulder-line was altered slightly to take up the slack that would originally have gone toward shoulder pads).

She has a lot of life left in her and I would love to see her go to a loving new home.

Giveaway is for the dress only, not the pattern.

Size: Advertised as a size 18 1/2 (bust 36, petite), however, that's me in the photo and I am 5'7" and was about a bust 38 at the time.

If you are interested, leave a comment here or email me through my blog, and I'll put your name in the hat. Be sure I have a way to contact you in case you're the lucky winner.

My Very First Giveaway Ends Today!

I just thought I'd post a quick last chance to enter to win the giveaway on my blog that ends tonight.

I've decided that giveaways are almost as much fun as shopping so there will be a few more to come soon!
Happy sewing, and have a delicious weekend!

The giveaway includes a lovely vintage pattern, a vintage edition of Work Basket Magazine from 1960, some great retro fabric, and some cute buttons to top it all off.
The pattern is really cool.  It's called a "Scoop Neck Skimmer" and it's printed by McCall's for mail order.  It's a size 10-12, Bust 31-32 and is uncut and in factory folds. (Don't you just love being the first person to use a pattern?)

Happy Weekend!

1960's pattern giveaway.

To celebrate reaching 100 followers I want to do a little give away. I have not yet gotten around to sewing this pattern yet, and with the current to-do list I have set for myself, it seems this beautiful pattern won't be sewn anytime soon! Such a shame for it to be sitting on my shelf unloved... I want to give it a new home!

Entry is open to anyone, you don't have to be a follower of my blog (but if you are you get two entries).

Check it out at my blog,
