This was one of the first dresses I made from my block patterns with the aid of the book; 'Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear' by Winfred Aldridge, 5th Ed. At first I found this pattern quite hard to get my head around which is werid because it's one of the easiest you can do! I think this was just probably because this was the first garment I had made from my blocks. I choose a cool stripe and anchor fabric from fabric land because I thought it went very well with my location, being in Brighton and because it would stand out in my portfolio work. Once completed I teamed the dress with a large red belt and red shoes, I also took the photo on the beach to cement the fifties and nortical themes together. I am pretty pleased with the dress as it is simple but the pattern makes it look effective. pictures below:
