Simplicity 5669: Tartan Plaid Cape

Hi Everyone! I recently finished a wool plaid cape, made from a vintage 1964 Simplicity pattern. It's lined with flannel-backed polyester lining, with gold-tone metal buttons down the front.Things I loved about this project? It's easy to sew a cape, since there aren't very many seams and it doesn't require a lot of fitting! Wearing a cape is so comfortable, like throwing on a blanket.

Because it was easy to sew, I spent more time cutting and matching the plaid, and pad-stitching the cape collar. I'm really happy with how this project turned out!

A Fifties Bolero: Vogue 7411

Hi Everyone! Hope you've having a wonderful holiday season so far! I recently finished a navy wool bolero from an early fifties Vogue Pattern. Here's the pattern envelope and the wool fabric:
I loved the unique styling of the pattern, it's very different from the usual bolero silhouette. Here's the finished jacket, worn over another vintage dress (Simplicity 3965):More photos and details on my blog here. Thanks for stopping by!

The Picnic Dress: Simplicity 3965

Hello everyone! I just finished a delightfully feminine 1950's dress, nicknamed 'The Picnic Dress.' I was inspired by a dress Betty Draper wore on Mad Men. The fabric is a vintage floral acetate print, and the pattern is vintage as well.
Here's the original pattern and fabric:And here's my finished dress!
For this dress, I made a waist stay, and hand-picked the zipper. Detailed tutorials for both techniques are on my blog so you can use them in your next retro dress project!

Hello everyone!

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for inviting me to join!
I'm Tasia and my blog is Sewaholic.net. While I've been sewing since I was little, I'm fairly new to the blogging world. I'm thrilled to find there are plenty of other people that love sewing as much as me, especially sewing with vintage patterns.

I've been reading for a while, and look forward to sharing my projects. My collection of vintage patterns is growing so I hope to have something to share soon!
