Hi all -
I'm so excited about this sewalong - although my current major crafting obsession is knitting (which I talk about at my knitting blog, A Mingled Yarn), sewing is my first love. I used to do a lot of costume work, and loved designing and making clothes for period performances, especially those set in the 19th century.
It turns out Vogue patterns are $3.99 at Jo-Ann Fabrics today and for the next couple of days - so I got a few:
I'm going to make the little belted top in the pattern on the left as my July project. I bought the red linen (in the background of my photo) for that - although I'm still undecided about the contrast binding color/fabric. I might make the dress, too - if I can find some good retro fabric. I also love the 1940s pattern on the right - I plan to make the short-sleeved version for fall work-wear. (I live in Houston, TX, so it doesn't really get all that cold here).
I'm loving all the projects that y'all have posted so far... keep 'em coming!
Cheers,
Elizabeth
