A 1940's hat from Vintage Vogue

I recently finished one of the hats from Vintage Vogue V7464. Hat B to be precise. That pattern is pretty infamous for having poor instructions and I must say that I agree. It took me some time to figure the pattern out, though now when it is done, it really wasn’t that hard to make. I used green wool felt that is a bit on the thin side, but I starched the pattern pieces quite a lot after I cut them out and the hat holds up quite well. I’m not going to wear it when it rains, though.

In the hope that someone else may have an easier time with this pattern, I have made an illustrated guide on how I put it together. It’s in two parts and can be read here and here.

Vintage Vogue V2885

Here is my take on this pattern:

It's a Vintage Vogue reprint from 1944 and it was a lot of fun to make!

Rehoming Patterns

Hi All,

Lately I've been running short on room for my patterns.  As a result, I am rehoming a select few.  If you are interested glance at my blog.  Should you find something interesting feel free to email me!

Hat Patterns

A while back, I acquired a box of late-1950's through mid-1960's Vogue hat patterns, almost all of which appear to be uncut and in factory folds; head sizes 21.5 or 22 (some say "one size").

However, it appears that I will never outgrow my childhood dislike of having things on my head, and late-1950's postdates my general time-period-of-interest. However, there really are some ridiculously cute patterns and somebody should use them who likes hats.

I'm listing them two-at-a-time on eBay, all with low starting bids and all with free shipping by first-class mail to the United States. I'm sure I would take a buck or two (at least) off, too, on multiple wins. No sales tax; I am not a dealer and from my personal pattern collection.

Seller ootek8599, 100% positive feedback.

Unfortunately as my forum is down I have noone to show these off to & tell me how amazing they are (the boyfriend is really no comparison for vintage loving women...)

Sunday Markets

For the last two Sundays I've braved the foggy winter mornings to try out my retro finds and crafts at the Bentleigh Market in Melbourne.

Once the effort has been made it's a fun morning. A great way to test if people like what you're doing and talk to like minded souls when it comes to vintage and retro. One lady was touched by my little framed pictures from old readers and we shared our memories of those from school days.
Here's a couple of photos of my stall....

I must be crazy...

To attempt all this in just a few short months...

Some of it is retro. Some isn't. You'll recognize the Vintage Vogue and Butterick patterns from my "What Should Be Next" post.

I have until August 30th to get them all done and packed for my cruise to the Bahamas/Key West. I'm so excited! This will be the first "real" vacation the hub and I have had without kids since 2001. So of course it needs a whole new wardrobe. Right? Right???

Here's the complete blog post on the madness...
