1940 Play Suit from McCall 3645

Hi there!
I just finished up this play suit from a vintage McCall pattern from 1940.  More info here on my blog.

Early 1940s Playsuit

I just recently finished this little number. I made it a week or so ago, but haven't gotten around to sharing until now. It's from an Advance pattern from the very late '30s to early '40s. I haven't been able to date it as of yet.

More about in on my blog. Have a good weekend!

The One That Got Away

I used to have this pattern. I made an awesome playsuit with it. But I didn't care for it properly and now it's gone. Can't find it anywhere. And I'd LOVE to make it again.
If anyone has a copy they'd like to part with, I'd be ever so grateful. I'd even just copy it and give it right back!

Vacation Playset!

I made this play set with a tie front blouse and highwaisted shorts pattern. Made from a light linen fabric, perfect for my upcoming vacation to Hawaii.

Sailor Playsuit

Ok, I admit its only vintage-inspired!
I used Butterick 5250 for the pants, and an old tried and true princess seamed pattern for the top. Its made from stretch cotton sateen, with a drafted sailor collar.
More info of course on the blog...

Summer Playsuit

In about April I saw a few playsuits in shop windows and became obsessed with the idea of making one. I found a pattern that I liked - Simplicity 2567 - although it was for shorts and T-shirt separately. I was able to use the most fantastic floral fabric by taking apart a pleated skirt (handmade) I found in a charity shop. It was a bit of a squeeze to get the pattern out of the one skirt: I had to use a contrast fuchsia pink for the pockets and neck facing, and I had to reuse the skirt's original waistband as the waistband of the playsuit. I did an exposed zip at the back since I'm still loving colourful exposed zips and Barry, the nice man who runs a fabric stall on the market, was able to source me lots of vintage metal zips with different coloured tapes. I absolutely adore wearing this - so comfortable! so summery! - and have already cut out another one.

Interview!

So I have an interview today & I made an outfit especially!

It's from Simplicity 5398 (1964) and a bolero from a 1940s playsuit pattern to cover the tattoos (we must think practically about these things!!). Please don't ban me for mixing eras in such a fashion! ;)

Oh, and wish me luck!!!! :D

Overalls - Modified!

This morning, as the weather here has been so stupidly hot hot hot, I woke up with the idea that I would make a playsuit. So I did. It took me about 3 hours alltogether, and as I have misplaced my actual playsuit pattern, I used my overalls pattern. I am so pleased with them. I haven't yet decided if I will make proper turnups or leave them as they are. I also need to move the hip buttons (massive hips = large placket & buttons in the wrong place!!).

Voila!

In the process of writing a lovely little blog post with more information!

Summer Time!!

I have been dying to get my hands on a playsuit pattern for a long time now. I often trawl the likes of Ebay & Etsy looking for such things that will fit into my budget, plust with Ebay, there seems to be a lot of competition for playsuit patterns, so imagine my utter joy when I found this;

With no other bidders & at a great price, I finally got my playsuit pattern! I was sat at work wondering when it might appear & lo & behold, it was in my mailbox when I arrived home this evening!

I am looking forward to the summer so much! I have my pile of patterns to make, and I started with this little beauty yesterday;

Hoping to get it finished tomorrow - I will keep you posted!
