Remember the Polka Dot Paradise post?

Well, here's the final product:

And here's the blog post. I'm thinking I need to lengthen the older one's dress by about two inches. Hopefully I have enough of the turquoise fabric to make do... Who knew my 6 year old shorty would be taller than a 1930s 6 year old?

Polka Dot Paradise!

I scored an awesome vintage pattern from Lanetz Living about 18 months ago, I guess, and have been dying to make it into something *special* for the girls. You know how it is. You get the perfect pattern but the perfect fabric has yet to materialize (har har). I'd already bought the hairbows to go with. Chocolate brown and turquoise & chocolate brown and pink respectively. And still, no fabric. Until a late-night trip to the SuperWal-Mart. Fancy finding the exact shades of turquise and pink in dots on a chocolate brown background! Whoda thunk it? Anyhow, I spent way more than I should have for the fabric ($4/yard) but I was DETERMINED to make That Pattern into dresses with That Fabric.

The Maternity Muu Muu....NOT

I found this dress pattern in the maternity section at Lanetz Living. That's probably why it was there long enough for me to debate for weeks to buy it. I'm not sure many modern women want to knowingly make a muu-muu to wear when they're pregnant. However, since I wasn't in the "family way" I thought McCall's 6712's belted version was adorable. The fact that it had a self-fabric belt and pockets just made it ideal.

Worn with cheap but lovely 50's-style jacket from Forever 21.

As soon as I saw this Denyse Schmidt "Katie Jump Rope" fabric I knew it was the one. Now, why it took me an entire year to make this dress though, is a mystery. But it is now done and just in time to catch the dwindling summer days of 2008. In addition, if I find the right knitted cardigan it could possibly stretch into fall.

An early Halloween costume?

I just saw this adorable pattern at Lanetz Living for $9.99.

Just imagine Bonnie Parker, (a la Faye) of "Bonnie and Clyde". How easy, a plastic gun and it's done.



Or how about just making this vintage-styled outfit because it's incredibly cute?!
